Bill “The Grill” Cooper Agrees to Multi-Fight Deal with BAMMA USA
Southern California’s leading local MMA promotion, BAMMA USA, and submission specialist, Bill “The Grill” Cooper agree to a multi-fight deal. Even though specifics of the deal were not immediately disclosed by BAMMA USA CEO, Brett Roberts, he did have the following comments: “BAMMA USA keeps moving forward and this deal with Bill (Cooper) is just another example of that. His world class talent takes our promotion to the next level.”
Submission Specialist Cooper
Describing Bill “The Grill” Cooper as a “submission specialist” might seem as an understatement to some. He was, at the time, the youngest American to receive a BJJ black belt at the age of 20. He began competing in Grapplers Quest at the age of 15 and has collected 27 championships along the way. He submitted everyone in the brown belt division, of the 2007 Pan American Games, for a Gold Medal. He added a Silver Medal at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships in 2007 (Absolute Category-Brown Belt) and 2008 (Middleweight Division-Black Belt). He was undefeated in his amateur MMA career, posting first round submission wins in all his victories. He continued that winning formula by winning his first professional MMA fight via submission. He was signed by the promotion Strikeforce (a Zuffa, LLC) in 2011 and submitted his opponent in the second round for the victory. So it is understandable if some see the term “submission specialist” as an understatement when describing Bill “The Grill” Cooper.
Cooper Debuts at Badbeat 6
The Main Event for Badbeat 6 is the first fight of BAMMA USA’s new multi-fight deal with Bill “The Grill” Cooper (3-1). Cooper takes on seasoned MMA fighter Scott Catlin (8-5) on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Commerce Casino (Commerce, CA). Coming off a unanimous decision loss last November in Strikeforce, Cooper looks to bounce back into the win column inside the BAMMA USA cage. He will have no easy task as he goes against the heavy hands of Scott Catlin, who is on a two fight win streak. The most impressive of those wins came against former UFC veteran Gabe Ruediger at Badbeat 5 via TKO (punches) in the second round. These two fighters bring their vastly contrasting styles to the cage as the Main Event at Badbeat 6. Which fighter comes out with the victory is uncertain. What is almost certain is that Badbeat 6 will sell out of tickets before the Main Event begins.
Ticket prices range from $60 to $150. Online ticket orders available through TicketForce. Please contact BAMMA USA for VIP Table opportunities, by calling 714.912.8822 or visiting www.BammaUSA.com
